Spring work in the school garden

March 7th, 2017 by Ms. Considine and tagged

Work has started in our garden. Children in the 6th classes have planted early crop potatoes. The seed potatoes were first left to sprout in the classroom and then planted in the raised bed in the garden. They will be ready for harvesting in June. Also the plants in the butterfly patch are beginning to bloom.

Summer Tour for Student Councillors & Green School Reps

June 21st, 2016 by Mr. Stuart and tagged ,

Here are some photos of today. Click on them twice for a closer look.

How lucky we are to be able to go visit the Phoenix Park, only a few minutes away.

Thank you to all these people…

  1. Mr Molloy for organising the trip,
  2. Sr Catherine for driving some of us,
  3. Ray the driver (he got us there, and back, safe and sound)
  4. the tour guides, including Bernie from Clondalkin, who taught us about life back in the old days in castles like Ashtown Castle,
  5. your parents for giving you permission,
  6. Mr Ruddy for paying for the bus and the ice-creams 🙂
  7. and of course…
  8. you! Not only have you worked so well all year for your class. Today you showed again how wonderful you are—playing so peacefully with each other, listening so well to the guides, cleaning up so so well “for the boys in green” :), and just being your wonderful selves.

Hope you like the photos.

Celebrating Earning Our FIFTH Green Flag!

June 25th, 2015 by Mr. Stuart and tagged

Thanks to you,

today Mrs Donlon was able to come back to our school today and raise yet another Green Flag for Talbot. Green Schools Lifting the FlagMrs Donlon is the much-loved teacher who began the Green Schools program in Talbot way back in 2005–and she helped the children at Talbot get four Green Flags!

This one, our fifth, was earned by everyone in the school from Autumn 2013 to Summer 2014. It was for all your work on Biodiversity.

And well done all the 4th Class children, led by Ms Gallagher’s class, with Mr O’Donnell on guitar. They all sang a gorgeous song they wrote. And well done the Green Team from every class, all of whom are a great team with Ms Gallagher, Ms Shaw, and Margaret.

What a lovely day!

Clean Up Day 2A big THANK YOU! to you! To ALL the classes!

Because you cleaned up so well on our Bawnogue Clean-Up Day last Tuesday, Bawnogue looked GREAT for everyone’s friends and families on our Confirmation Day last Thursday!

Look how much rubbish you cleaned up!

The photos show Ms Cunnane’s/Nallen’s class. They had the big job of cleaning up around the church and they did great!

Thank you too to the people who took away all the rubbish, South Dublin County Council. And thank you too to the organisation who encouraged us to do this: An Taisce, Ireland’s National Trust (fancy words for saying they are the nice people who help us take good care of our country and make sure we don’t spoil it).Clean Up Day Rubbish 2015.jpg
