Graphs Report

We used graphs to show our eye colour and the average rainfall in Mayo, Dublin and Clare. We used a trend graph for the rainfall and a pie chart for eye colour. For the eye colour we did tallies to see who had blue, brown and green eyes. Then we put them into percentages. After we had all of our information we drew our pie chart.

For our trend graph we looked up the information in  website and it showed us the rain for every month in millimetres. We converted the mm to centimetres. We also used rounding of numbers. Then we drew the graph on special paper for graphs.

I had lots of fun drawing graphs and you will too.

Our school garden and environment in May

May 26th, 2017 by Ms. Considine

May is a beautiful time of the year and our garden is looking great. A big thank you to Jason for his wonderful painting job and well done to Ms Ward for choosing the lovely bright colour. The potatoes, peas and runner beans are thriving. Mr Molloy’s class planted carrotts and we also have some herbs growing. The flowers brighten up the school environment and again thank you to Jason for his careful watering of them. STOP, LOOK and ADMIRE.

Talbot Computer Science Club

May 23rd, 2017 by Mr Byrne

Every Monday after school, Mr Bannon and Mr Byrne are helping out 4th and 5th class children in the Talbot CS (Computer Science) club.

Computer Science skills are really important in the world we live in and the children in the club are using IT (Information Technology) skills, creating stories on Scratch, working with others, following instructions, making games and completing IT tasks.

Well done to everyone who is taking part in the club. In the next assembly we will be showcasing some of the projects the children have created.

St. Patrick Acrostic Poems

March 24th, 2017 by Ms Byrne

We created some acrostic poems about St. Patrick. Please read and enjoy the top 4 from our class:

St. Patrick by Rayhana Ameur

Shamrocks everywhere,

Today is the day.

Put your Irish dancing shoes on,

A lot of fun we’ll have.

Things to wear – green, orange & white.

Ribbons on hair.

Ireland flags in the air!

Céilí  – we have to learn,

Kids having great times!

St Patrick – by Jessy Huynh

Saint Patrick is famous,

The saint who isn’t scared of snakes.

Patrick got taken as a slave,

And escaped.

Then scared the snakes of Ireland.

Rescued Ireland from snakes.

Ireland is safe now!

Celebrate and clap,

Kind and happy lad- Patrick.

St. Patrick by Coleen Imperial

St. Patrick our hero,

The hero we care for.

People all in green,

All the sheep he cared for.

The snakes are all gone.

Ready for celebration.

It’s all set in Ireland,

Come on it’s on the 17th of March,

Keep this in your mind we’re about to celebrate.

St. Patrick – Katelyn McKiernan

Saint Patrick’s Day is on its way,

Till Saturday that is the day.

Pirates were on his way for him,

And he had to stay away.

Today he wanted to get away,

Really wanting God to help him this day.

Ireland was a country he might have liked,

Colourful and green he liked his way,

Kindness and goodness he spreads all day.

Work has started in our garden. Children in the 6th classes have planted early crop potatoes. The seed potatoes were first left to sprout in the classroom and then planted in the raised bed in the garden. They will be ready for harvesting in June. Also the plants in the butterfly patch are beginning to bloom.

February 7th, 2017 by Ms Byrne

Today, our class (4th) went on a school trip to Glanmore foods to see where and how our tasty school lunches are produced. Alan Silver from Dublin Bus brought us over to the factory in Blanchardstown at 10am. We were given a guided tour of the factory and we got to see every step of the process used to make our lunches! We even got a chance to try making our own creations with the bread dough. When the tour ended, we were given a snack and Alan brought us back to school. We were even given a goody bags of treats each to take home!
