Our school sent eight sprinters to Santry today with Ms. Cahill, Sr. Catherine and Cullen as team assistant. The athletes were Paul, Katelyn, Lolly, Jude, Ryan, Bolu, Darragh and Millie.
All the athletes ran extremely well, with Katelyn, Jude and Bolu making their finals. Bolu turned the day into a golden day by coming first in her final against top-class competition. Congratulations to her and to all the athletes who represented the school so well! And thanks to Mr. Ruddy for keeping the training going when I was out of action during May.
Well done everyone!!

Mr Carty has recently put a lot of new books in our school library. He has added books by your favourite authors such as Roald Dahl and David Walliams. Another new book in the library is Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth by Frank Cottrell Boyce.
Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth by Frank Cottrell Boyce

Sputnik is an alien from outer space who has come to embark on a mission to save earth from obliteration. This book is laugh-out-loud funny.
Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson.

Maia is an orphan in search of distant relatives a thousand miles up the Amazon River. She meets two spiteful lazy cousins who refuse to go outdoors and enjoy all the Rainforest has to offer them. Read about Maia’s adventures in this gripping book.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Wonder is about August (“Auggie”), a young boy born with severe facial abnormalities who, at the age of 10, leaves the safety of his parents’ homeschooling and begins attending a New York private school.
Seeking Refuge Series by Andy Glynne and others

This is a gripping series of books based on the theme of Global Citizenship. After we have raised our 6th Green flag, these books should be of great interest to you all. Each story tells a tale of children from across the world in far reaching corners of the globe.
Please comment below if you read any of these books and I will pick out a winner for the next assembly.

Scoil Talbot finished off the Clondalkin League on Monday in style. The boys won 2 games, drew 1 and lost 1. The last match saw the team produce their best performance winning 9-5 in a goal-fest in Corkagh Park. Again Darragh was outstanding in goal, winning every high ball that came his way. In defence on the wings -Jude, Oisin and Craig attacked at every opportunity. In the centre of defence Ryan, Soheib and Toheib tackled and showed calmness on the ball. Both Michael and Ryan Lee scored goals from the wing. In the centre of midfield Luke again won every ball that came near him and passed brilliantly. His partner in midfield was the excellent Millie who scored 2 wonderful goals from 30 yards out. Up front Captain Andrew worked tirelessly and had 2 great efforts that hit the bar. Dylan made some good runs and Jamie Brannigan scored everything he hit-finishing the game with a superb personal tally of 5 goals.
Team: Darragh Davey Kelly, Jude Lambert, Craig Touhy, Óisin O’Brien, Soheib Ameur, Ryan Collins Murphy, Toheeb Kasali, Corey Byrne, Luke O’Reilly, Millie Davey Kelly, Ryan Lee, Dylan Daly, Michael White, Jamie Brannigan, Andrew Keogh.
Thanks to the 25 boys who represented the school over our 4 matches.

Every Monday after school, Mr Bannon and Mr Byrne are helping out 4th and 5th class children in the Talbot CS (Computer Science) club.
Computer Science skills are really important in the world we live in and the children in the club are using IT (Information Technology) skills, creating stories on Scratch, working with others, following instructions, making games and completing IT tasks.
Well done to everyone who is taking part in the club. In the next assembly we will be showcasing some of the projects the children have created.
