Trip to Marshes Library and St. Patrick’s Cathedral

February 28th, 2017 by lkilleen6895

We had a great time on our tour on the 22nd of February. We went to Marshes Library and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Oisín was our tour guide in the library. We saw some doodles in books, some of which were over 500 years old. We also got to make some of our own doodles and even got to do some printing on our very own bookmarks. In St. Patrick’s Cathedral Ciara showed us around and we got to make our own stain glass windows!! An excellent tour and we would recommend a visit to these places to everyone. Ms. Shaw’s Class

February 27th, 2017 by Ms Byrne

Please read three of our book reviews – all these books are in our school library!!

Fantastic Mr. Fox – by Roald Dahl
This book is about three farmers called Boggis, Bunce, and Bean. They don’t like to share but Mr. Fox tries to get their animals. I enjoyed this book because it was so funny and good but also a little bit sad. I would recommend this book for 3rd and 4th class.
By Paul Oladele

Pippa Morgan’s Diary – Love and chicken Nuggets – by Annie Kelsey
This book is about a girl called Pippa Morgan. It is set on Valentine’s Day. She is trying to find her mam a date for Valentine’s Day.
I enjoyed this book because it was really funny. I would recommend this book for 3rd, 4th 5th and 6th class. It is a really good book – I hope you read it.
By Ciara Doran

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – by Jeff Kinney
This book is about a kid named Greg who shows us the way his life is going with his family and at school with all his teachers and school bullies. I enjoyed this book because it is funny and very weird. I recommend this book for all classes.

Book Reviews

February 9th, 2017 by Mr Malone

Over the past week, all of Mr Malone’s 5th class reviewed some books from our school library. Here are some of the books that were reviewed in our classroom.

Golden Goal by Dan Freedman

In this book, a boy named Jamie Johnson wants to be a professional footballer. He wants to follow in his Grandad’s footsteps. His Grandad played for Hawkshore United. However, his Mum and Step-Dad Jeremy don’t think he can make it as a footballer. The question is, will Jamie make it as a professional footballer? You’ll have to read it to find out.

I enjoyed the book because I love football and it tells you what it takes to become a professional footballer.

I would recommend this book for students in fifth and sixth class.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney

This book is about a boy named Greg and he has a tough life. Greg gets himself into big trouble at school. Suddenly, a snow storm hits and everywhere becomes covered in 3ft of snow. Greg is trapped in his house because of the snowstorm. While he is trapped, Greg’s brother Manny smashed his mother’s glasses. Greg has to take care of Manny because his mother can’t see and she can’t get a new pair until the snow is gone.

I enjoyed this book and I found it very interesting. I like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I would recommend this book for 4th, 5th and 6th class.

You should try this book out! Diary of a Wimpy Kid is one of the best-selling kids books.

The Witches by Roald Dahl

At the beginning of this book, a boy and his parents are driving to his Grandma’s house in Norway. Sadly, they are in a car crash and his parents die. The boy then moves to live with his Grandma. His Grandma tells him stories about witches. One summer, the boy and his grandma go to a hotel and meet some real life witches.

I enjoyed the book because it’s really interesting. It’s a bit sad at the start but at the end it is much happier.

I would recommend this book for 4th and 5th class because it’s a really easy book for those classes. I found the book funny when the witches were described.
