GreenSchools
Thanks to you,
today Mrs Donlon was able to come back to our school today and raise yet another Green Flag for Talbot.
Mrs Donlon is the much-loved teacher who began the Green Schools program in Talbot way back in 2005–and she helped the children at Talbot get four Green Flags!
This one, our fifth, was earned by everyone in the school from Autumn 2013 to Summer 2014. It was for all your work on Biodiversity.
And well done all the 4th Class children, led by Ms Gallagher’s class, with Mr O’Donnell on guitar. They all sang a gorgeous song they wrote. And well done the Green Team from every class, all of whom are a great team with Ms Gallagher, Ms Shaw, and Margaret.
What a lovely day!

summer
Summer gives you a lot of time. So much time that it can be hard to know what to do with it all!
So here are some ideas from a 3rd class (Ms Shaw’s) and a 6th class (Mr Gilartin’s) FOR YOU...
Talbot Kids’ Own Lost-Cost Ideas For the Summer Holidays
Park—playground. Golf. Basketball. Fishing. Water fight. Irish camp. Chasing games. Fly a kite. Go on a walk. The canal. Get some fresh air. Arts and Crafts. Make a poster for Save the Children. Plant a flower and watch it grow. Go to Phoenix Park. Picnic. Make a fort out the back with your friends. Trampoline. Meditation. GAA Round Towers. Biking. Create a game. Help people at what they’re bad at. Building a tree-house. Swimming in the leisure centre (€4 per child). Arrange family events. Bake sale. Corkagh Park playground—free. Liffey Valley football camps. Skate park beside Clondalkin centre—free. Corkagh Park fishing. Tennis camp. Family fun at the Enterprise Centre, a yearly event. Community summer camp, Bawnogue.
I think you’ll agree there’s LOTS of great ideas here.
If you have any other great ideas, ones that are LOW-COST, please add a comment! If there’s even just a few more, maybe we could write our own book called “The Anti-Boredom Book”!

Here’s MY Comment: “We can all feel bored sometimes. But not when we give ourselves a challenge. That’s the trick… give myself a challenge!” (Mr Stuart)

Art
What a great year it’s been at Talbot for art.
And this week Ms Ní Dhuill organised an Art Display in the Hall to give everyone a chance to show others their best art.
Here are photos of some of the amazing art on display. I have organised them by class, so you can see just your class’s art if you want. Enjoy!
(Remember, if you want to save a picture to your computer so you can have it forever, just open it and ‘right-click’ on it and choose ‘Save As’ and click Save. It’s that simple. Have a great summer!)

Acting
Hello all parents and guardians,
Please read this carefully (Or you can click here for this note in PDF). Thank you, Martin Stuart, Concert Coordinator (Tue 16th June)
- Timing – Due to time for make-up and class organisation, children for scene 1 (Castle) and scene 3 (The Lion King) are to arrive by 6.45, scene 2 (Frozen) by 7.00, scene 4 (Shrek) and scene 5 (Harry Potter) by 7.10, and scenes 6 (The Market) and 7 (The Wedding) by 7.15. The main characters in the play are to arrive by 6.30. The concert begins at 7.30.
- Snacks – On the night, your child will receive a bottle of water and a snack for free, thanks to Glanmore Foods.
- Shoes and Hair – Children are to wear light runners, not heavy shoes. Children with long hair are to have their hair off their face.
- Entrance Used on the Night – Natasha and Jenny will be welcoming you in to the hall through the entrance at the Teachers’ Car Park.
- Interval and Raffle – There will be a 10-minute interval after scene 4 when there’ll be a raffle with lots of prizes, organised by the Parents Association. Tickets are priced €2 for a strip of 5 tickets, and 3 strips for a fiver.
- Collecting Your Child – After the whole concert is over one parent/guardian per child will go through “the teachers’ entrance.” No‑one is allowed at any time to go through the busy backstage area (blue curtains). And then the parent/guardian will collect their child from the child’s teacher in the child’s classroom. And then head home hopefully happy and proud through the main gates which will be open then.
- DVDs – Two films of the Concert are being professionally recorded, one for each night. They act forever as great memories of a very special time in your child’s life. Each class will be busy on stage for about 10 minutes, acting, singing, and dancing. To ensure the best possible quality we are organising professionals to do the Sound and the Lights on the two nights. You can order a DVD for €20 of the night your child was in. You can do that on the night of the Concert; or you can do that in school. The DVDs will be delivered to the school on Friday 26th June and given to your child.

Congratulations to everyone who’s already been praying this easy and powerful way.
In case you ever forget how to pray it, here it is!
The Pope — Pope Francis — created this “way to pray” a long time ago before he became Pope, and he is now teaching it to the world! Millions of people now pray this way!
Remember, you can pray it at any time and in any place. All you need is… your five fingers!

Here are the words of Pope Francis as he teaches us the prayer…
- The thumb is the closest finger to you. So start praying for those who are closest to you. They are the persons easiest to remember.
- The next finger is the index, the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the support and wisdom to show direction to others. Always keep them in your prayers.
- The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders, people in government, and those who have authority. They need God’s guidance.
- The fourth finger is the ring finger. Surprisingly, it is our weakest finger. It reminds us to pray for the weakest, the sick, or those plagued by problems. They need your prayers.
- And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. When you are done praying for the other four groups, you will be able to see your own needs but in the proper perspective, and also you will be able to pray for your own needs in a better way.
I know how powerful it is. It’s more powerful than even Conor McGregor… it’s a different type of power: prayers like this one change our hearts, they fill our hearts with God’s love.
