Mr Byrne’s class have been creating their own robots lately as part of Engineer’s Week.

Using old boxes, packaging, bottles; anything really from the recycle bin at home! We also incorporated electrical circuits into our designs. We will be announcing a winner shortly. Each robot was made by a team of 3-4 members over the last 3 weeks during our art and science classes.

Our hurling panel had 20 boys training today! We are looking forward to playing our first games in the next few weeks!

Today children in 5th class tasted the physalis fruit which comes all the way from Columbia! We really enjoy learning about new foods and how they can help us live healthy, happy lives! 

Mr Gordon’s 4th class and Mr Coleman’s 5th class joined together to display and present their recently completed Geography projects. Mr Gordon’s class did wonderful work on China and Mr Coleman’s class covered Australia.

Both Amy and Grace in Ms Nallen’s/Ms Cunnane’s class were reading their PM Book about Mountains and Rivers. I asked them to spend at most 10 minutes answering a few written questions for their PM homework. Instead, they asked could they make models of mountains and rivers…. Look what they made!!

Have you ever seen such amazing work? They had great fun making them, with their brothers and sisters and parents—a real family event!

Congratulations to both of them—and to you if you ask your teacher to make something instead of doing your regular homework!

Mr Byrne’s 6th class have been busy planning, designing and now building our own robots. We are assembling the robots using recycled materials like cardboard boxes, food packaging and plastics and also electrical components. Will update in a few weeks to see how we got on!

Today the 5th classes paid a visit to local company Xilinx to take part in the Count4Success programme. We were in groups with children from St. Ronans NS and completed various maths workshops. We had s great time, a great lunch, and learned lots!

Our class have started the Food Dudes Healthy Eating Programme. We are learning lots about the benefits of eating healthy fruits and vegetables and how they can help us live healthy, happy lives!
