Congratulations to all in Mr Gilmartin’s 6th class who took part in a Creating Images Writing Competition. Well done to the following who won runners up prizes: Brittney, Kevin, Lauren, Shauna, Mercy, Ebony, Celine and Shannon.
Congratulations to Michael Odii, our overall winner who wrote this wonderful image filled story which you can now read for yourself. Enjoy!
Snowy Morning.
One Morning, it started to snow horribly. I felt demoralized as outside was being pounded with miniscule pieces of snow. These snow pieces were small but they were mighty as they covered my lawn in less than five minutes.
Work on clearing the lawn happened quickly. As I felt the strain of lifting the shovel, my left shoulder felt an immensely strong pain. “Aaaaargh” I shouted. My father told me to go inside.
To my delight, my big sister made hot chocolate for me. I gulped it up, as a vacuum gobbles up dust. ” Mmmm”, I said to myself as it slid down into my belly.
As I looked outside, the snow had melted. This mornings illusion of a back-garden north pole land had sadly dissappeared.

This year, the Clondalkin Partnership (CPLN) sponsored an Art Project in our school. The three 5th classes took part. With the help of Jane, an artist, each child in 5th class researched an occupation that they might be interested in when they grow up. They all visited the library to get information about their chosen occupation. They then drew an image of what a person doing that particular job may look like on a large piece of card and they cut out the face. They each spent time painting the the image and creating a background.
It was a fantastic project, and the fifth class children enjoyed creating their images while learning all about different occupations!
Today, the 5th classes displayed their work in the school hall. Their parents were invited in and some of the 3rd and 4th classes came down to view the art. The 6th classes already saw the art during the assembly in February. Have a look at the pictures!

How Well Do You Know What Happened In “Holy Week”? Some children know very little. Some children think they know a lot but don’t. And some children really DO know a lot.
To see how much YOU know, read about what happened to Jesus during Holy Week here. Maybe begin with a prayer from your heart and end with a prayer from your heart. Whatever you are feeling, tell Jesus; he understands very very well.
(If you know of or find another website that tells the story of Holy Week, why not tell us below in the comments. Thanks!)

Which 6th Class knows most?
Well, to find out we had a general knowledge quiz today between Mr Molloy’s Magnificents and Mr Stuart’s Superstars.
There were six rounds of questions, on topics like science, music, and flags. Early on, it seemed like Mr Molloy’s class were winning easily.
Everyone was working in twos, and you were allowed share your answers with others in your class…. so it was good to share (but don’t let the other class hear your answers!).
In the end, the Superstars shone brightest! Yes, Morgan Reilly and Luke Corbally in Mr Stuart’s got 28 out of 36 questions right, more than anyone else. A massive congratulations to everyone in both classes for knowing so much.
Mr Molloy looked a little glum as he shook Mr Stuart’s hand to say ‘congratulations’ and his class promised to win the next battle.
Will Mr Molloy’s Magnificents make a great comeback? Will Mr Gilmartin’s Greatest think they could beat either class? Or will Mr Stuart’s Superstars simply keep on shining? … Watch this space.
